Alexandria Virginia

Everyone in the DMV knows that living in northern Virginia is "the bar," and Alexandria Virginia is the pinnacle (don't tell Arlington or D.C. we said that because we will deny it) as far as NoVA living is concerned. With tons of restaurant options, the Birchmere, the waterfront, the historical components, parks, cultural activities, and shopping destinations, it's pretty hard NOT to love this place. Now, Alexandria is composed of 2 parts, the city of Alexandria, and the Alexandria that is a part of Fairfax County. For the purposes of this article, we will be mainly addressing Alexandria City. With a different festival happening every month, the numerous farmers markets, and various other events taking place year-round, Alexandria is a multifaceted cultural explosion only 7 miles south of Washington D.C. Even as we compose this ('we' being a native Washingtonian,) it is complicated to capture the essence of Alexandria in words. Being a part of a small area consisting of bold cities that all have very prominent personalities, Alexandria stands out. However, we will try to capture the essence of this beautiful city of colonial origins.
