West End
West End a very suburban area of Alexandria, complete with winding roads and cul-de-sacs lined with homes, annexed to Alexandria from Fairfax County in the 1950s. The Duke Street area of West End boasts both strip style and enclosed shopping malls with a variety of shopping and dining opportunities to choose from.
There are four distinct areas of West End: Seminary Hill, a mostly residential, single-family home area; “The Landmark” area, comprised of mostly condos and high rise apartment buildings as well as a few townhome developments; Lower Alexandria, complete with a variety of smaller homes, rowhomes, townhomes and a variety of commercial and retail property; and Seminary West, which includes neighborhoods west of 1-395; and the Alexandria Campus of Northern Virginia Community College.
There is a popular Farmers Market in West End that many residents like to frequent on Sundays from May to November.

There is also a vibrant nightlife throughout Alexandria and surrounding cities, and nearby Washington, D.C. offers professional sports and a number of sightseeing opportunities.
