Mount Vernon

Mount Vernon

Mount Vernon is a census-designated place in southeastern Fairfax County, just on the border of Alexandria, only 13 miles away from the nation’s capital! As of 2010, the town’s population is approximately 30,000.

The town gets its name from the historic Mount Vernon Estate (George Washington’s home), which is located here, and has become a popular tourist attraction in the Washington metro area. Because the community is located on the Potomac River, residents enjoy a variety of outdoor and water activities throughout the year – especially in the warmer months.

Due to the community’s close proximity to Alexandria, plenty of shopping, dining and entertainment opportunities await! A few mintes away, you can stroll through the old streets of Old Town Alexandria, or hop on the metro at the Huntington Station Metro to Washington, D.C. and take advantage of sightseeing, shopping, or catch a professional sports game at FedEx Field or the Verizon Center!

If it’s golf you’re looking for, don’t fret! The Mount Vernon area is home to several golf courses and country clubs, including the Mount Vernon Country Club, Belle Haven Country Club, Fort Belvoir Golf Club and Pohick Bay Golf Course in nearby Lorton, VA.
