Falls Church, Virginia is an independent city between Arlington and Fairfax counties. The total area of the city is 2.2 square miles, and in 2009, the total population was about 11,700.
Although the Washington Metro subway system has two stations with "Falls Church" in their names, neither technically lies within the boundaries of the City of Falls Church; nevertheless, they are convenient to Falls Church residents because they're located near the bountaries. East Falls Church metro station is in Arlington County, and West Falls Church metro station is in Fairfax County.
The schools that serve Falls Church residents are Mount Daniel and Thomas Jefferson elementary schools, Mary Ellen Henderson Middle School, and George Mason High School. Falls Church is also eligible to send up to three students per year to Fairfax's Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology.
Falls Church is home to the Broadale Village Shopping Center, and popular restaurants include La Caraquena, Ireland's Four Provinces, Claire & Don's Beach Shack, and Applebee's. You'll also find the State Theatre, which hosts many popular cover bands, indie acts, comedy nights, and more.
For outdoor entertainment, there are many parks scattered throughout the community. Golfers can hit all day at Westwood Country Club in Vienna, or Washington Golf and Country Club in Arlington.
