A beautiful community located in Arlington only six miles away from Washington, DC. The community is right off of Glebe Road and is in close proximity to I-395 for access to the hot spots of Ballston, Clarendon, Courthouse, Roslyn, Shirlington, Alexandria, and Washington DC. These surrounding areas feature plenty of shopping, dining, recreation, and entertainment options. This community is also less than 2 miles from the Pentagon City metro and is very close to Reagan National Airport.
A Historic Neighborhood
The community of Nauck (Also known as Green Valley or Johnson's Hill) is a historic Virginia neighborhood that dates back even before the civil war. In 2004, Arlington County set in place a community revitilization plan that has improved and expanded the community, which included the construction of the Nauck Town Square. The area is also home to "Superman Hill" which is a steep hill that is quite a challenge for runners. The Green Valley Pharmacy in Nauck has been open for over 50 years and is a historical Arlington landmark. The Weenie Beenie is a community favorite for chili dogs, half smokes, and burgers.
Community Center
One of the benefits of living in this community is the Walter Reed Community Center (pictured) located a few blocks away at 16th Street S and S Walter Reed Drive. This center, run by the Arlington Department of Parks & Recreation, has several recreational opportunities. The center has indoor volleyball & basketball, as well as outdoor tennis courts & turf football/soccer fields. The WRCC also has an indoor turf field, a game room with pool, ping pong, and foosball, and offers many other fun programs and fitness classes to enjoy. Nauck is also home to the Martin Luther King Community Center as well which has served the community for over 30 years.
Fort Barnard Park, Dog Park, & Community Garden
This lovely little park features a basketball court, baseball field, a playground, and a paved walking trail. The main draw to this park is the dog park where friendly dogs and active owners can go to enjoy a beautiful day outdoors in the community. Fort Barnard is also home to a community garden.
Jennie Dean Park
Another small neighborhood park with a basketball court, baseball fields and tennis courts.
W&OD Trail & Four Mile Run
The Washington & Old Dominion (W&OD) Trail is over 40 miles of paved path running across northern Virginia and right through the community of Nauck. Aside from access to the W&OD, Nauck also has access to the Four Mile Run trail which is a 7 mile trail that runs alongside the stream by the same name down to the Potomac River.
