Fairlington is a unique historic district of Arlington County and Alexandria, Virginia. This neighborhood is unique in that it consists of almost entirely older, townhome-style condominium apartments and it is listed under both the National Register of Historic Places and the Virginia Landmarks Register.
The wooded community overlooks the Four Mile Run valley along the Potomac River, just across from the nation’s capital. Because of its location, Fairlington is conveniently close to several Metro stops, including the King Street Metro Station in Alexandria and the Pentagon Metro Station in Arlington, both easily accessed via Metrobus (or bike). Fairlington is also located just five miles from Ronald Regan National Airport and 25 miles east of Washington Dulles International Airport.
There is a central community center within the neighborhood with plenty of areas for public recreation. Additionally, each condominium association within Fairlington operates its own swimming pool and tennis and basketball courts for residents. The nearby Village at Shirlington offers a great area for shopping, dining and nightlife as well as a movie cinema. On top of this, the Fairlington area is home to several golf courses, including Pinecrest Golf Course, Washington Golf & Country Club, and the Army Navy Country Club in Arlington.
