Crystal City is an urban community of about 6,000 residents in the southeastern corner of Arlington County. The community is minutes south of Washington, D.C. and residents are able to live, work, shop and enjoy a variety of entertainment without even leaving it!
Crystal City is home to many government and government centered organizations, including the US Department of Labor, EPA and numerous defense contractors and satellite offices for the Pentagon.
Crystal City, like Rosslyn and Ballston, is characterized as an “urban village” and features mainly high-rise apartment buildings, hotels, offices and a prominent amount of shopping and dining opportunities around a metro station, in this case, the Crystal City stop. Favorite restaurants in the area include Jaleo, Morton's Steakhouse, Ruth's Chris Steak House, McCormick & Schmick's, and Ted's Montana Grill.
A unique thing about this community is that a large part of it is an underground city, including Crystal Underground Shopping Mall, a state-of-the-art mall with over 70 stores. The fact that many conveniences can be found underground makes this community a huge plus incase of inclement weather. Pentagon City Mall is a larger mall just a few blocks away with over 170 additional stores.
Sports fans will find Crystal City the perfect area to live. The Washington Capital’s new practice facility in Ballston; the Verizon center, home to the Capitals and Wizards; and Redkins' FedEx Field are all a quick Metro ride away!
