Could Stonehurst be your new home?
Fairfax County is the most populous county in Virginia, with over one million people. It has a six-figure median household income, and the school system has a wide variety of schools that will fit the needs of any child.
The Fairfax County Public School system is robust because over half of the county's budget is allocated to it, not including state and federal contributions. One of their prized high schools is the Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology, a public magnet school which accepts students based on merit.
Most Fairfax residents have government jobs, including jobs at the CIA, which is located in the Langley/McLean region of Fairfax. Fairfax also has proximity to DC, which makes it a very convenient location for people relocating to the DC area for jobs. Currently, Fairfax has a handful of metro stops that lead into DC. A huge expansion project is underway that will stretch the metro system through Fairfax, reaching Tysons Corner, Reston, Herndon, and extending all the way to the Fairfax/Loudoun border at the Dulles International Airport.
Fairfax County is not all city, though. There are almost 400 county parks covering more than 23,000 acres. There are many hiking and biking trails, most notably the Washington & Old Dominion Railroad Trail, and the Mount Vernon Trail, which runs along the Potomac River.
George Washingon, George Mason, Mia Hamm, and Julianne Moore are all former residents of Fairfax County, as well as numerous professional athletes, entertainers, politicians, and even an astronaut (Catherine Coleman).
There is a strong arts community in Fairfax. There are many local theater groups, stages, and festivals in Fairfax, and the Patriot Center regularly hosts nationally famous acts.
Arguably, the best shopping in the entire Washington Metro Area is in Fairfax at the Tysons Corner Shopping Centers, which is also at the heart of a still-growing business community which, as preiously stated, is getting a metro stop in the next few years. The mall is the 11th largest in the United States. All of the top stores and brands have locations in Tysons Corner, including Saks 5th Avenue, Nieman Marcus, Montblanc, BCBG, Nicole Miller, Burberry, Cartier, Chanel, FAO Schwartz, and many more.
