Burke, Virginia, is a lovely suburb of Washington, D.C. It is best known for being a planned community, complete with ample walking trails, green spaces, and smartly designed subdivisions.
Residents look forward to the annual Burke Festival, which showcases local talented artists and entertains children with carnival rides, costumes, pony rides, face painting, and so much more. It's easy to make good friends in Burke and is a great place to raise a family--and the schools are a part of the award-winning Fairfax Public School system.
Burke is conveniently located just a few miles off of the Capital Beltway, so access to D.C. is easy. The V.R.E. (Virginia Railway Express) commuter train also makes a stop in Burke, so there is an option to avoid traffic altogether.
There is a lot to do in Bruke. Some of the golf courses near Burke are Pinecrest Golf Course, the Springfield Goft & Country Club, Greendale Golf Course, and the Burke Lake Golf Course. Public pool membership allows access to all five large pools in Burke, with very reasonable rates at $130 per family from Memorial Day through Labor Day, courtesy the Burke Centre Conservancy. There are also a plethora of classes available to residents, from aerobics and art to social etiquette, and even a class for bright middle schoolers to prepare for Fairfax County's famous Thomas Jefferson science and math magnet school test. While familiar shops like Walmart and Target are nearby, there are also some unique shopping spots, like the Burke Cigar Lounge.
