Real Estate Information

  We have claimed this time in Vicki's life and our families as the "Road to Recovery". We must begin again with our thankfulness to each of you. Your prayers, cards, emails and calls have been truly a blessing for our family.

   The photo you see to the left is a recent photo of Vicki Nellis and her son James Nellis at Tysons Corner. It was taken in between appointments. That's right- Vicki is working right now despite her 5 treatments a week. We believe that the prayers of so many and her ability to work hard and push for success will lead us down the road to recovery.

     Watch the video below for the update straight from Vicki. Our Team both on-site and Agents continue to be a wonderful asset allowing Vicki to choose when to work based on her energy each day. Jim and the kids continue to walk with her each day as they encourage her during her recovery.

   Many have asked: "What can we do?... Can we send her anything?... Can we visit?" We want to thank you for the correspondence so far. Emails are still the best form of communication with encouraging words or thoughts to family@nellisgroup.com  As for visits, we encourage prayer and emails while Vicki is still going through treatment 5 days a week.

    We are blessed to have such an amazing woman leading this Real Estate Team and we have been humbled by each of you- your thoughts, prayers and encouragement!!

Thank you for all of your prayers and concerns for Vicki - Now recovering from recent surgery for an unexpected brain tumor.  Recently we found Vicki on her Blackberry- already trying to get back to work and keep on running The Nellis Group's day to day operations. So we asked her to give her own take in writing on her Blackberry and send us an update to post to all of our clients and friends... Here it is:

"I just wanted to thank everyone for their prayers. We are hanging in there and every day I hope I am getting a little stronger. I definitely have more energy today than a week ago. We met with Dr Fine at NIH on Friday and he sounded quite hopeful.
        We just met with radiology on Wednesday and Chemo on Friday. I will then take a week off at the Outer Banks and start the medical procedures when we get back. I'm encouraged and hopeful."

         It has been overwhelming to receive the thoughts and prayers from so many of you. If you would like to send Vicki a message you can do that direct at family@nellisgroup.com or leave a comment here.

          We will keep you all updated at least once a month via a new blog post on our Real Estate site. We are thankful that it is a family business that can successfully run while Vicki is in recovery. We personally want to thank our family and our Team for helping things run so smoothly in this interim. Keith (Vicki's son-in-law), Nicole and James have been and will be the foundation for Vicki's recovery. Our Full-Time Office Team: Barbara, Kristi, Libby, Shari & Nathan have been wonderful. Our Agent Partners: Carol, Val, Ann H., Penny, Mel, Mike & Ann B. continue to make sure that nothing is left undone.

            Thank you for your continued prayers... I know that many have asked about sending flowers, candy, etc. We simply ask that you join us in prayer and a ruthless trust in a God that controls all things. We look forward to Vicki being able to watch her grandchildren grow up...

Recently we had an opportunity to interact with Howard Brinton and his Star Power Team over in San Francisco in early 2009. It was an incredible event full of sharing information and tools that could benefit every Realtor in their own marketplace.

This is not the first year or event where Howard has assembled top Real Estate minds from around the Country. He does it every year at the Star Power Annual Conference. This year it is being held in Star Power's home town- Denver, Colorado.

    There will be over 180 "stars" there to share their experience and "tools of the trade". Stars are defined as an experienced Realtor that brings something unique from the Real Estate industry to share with others so that we all may become better at servicing our clients.

      The Nellis Group was interviewed as new "stars" in early 2006. It was an honor to be selected and has been a joy to be in a place to share our ideas with the masses. We truly believe that when you freely give, you freely receive. We know that our Business is BETTER because of the interaction with the other Stars and by attending the Star Power Annual Conferences. Silas Burke born in 1796 created a legacy for years to come. Burke passed away in 1854 after establishing himself as a farmer, local politician and even a merchant.

In those days, he held many titles and important positions in order to create what is now known as Burke. He owned the land on which the Orange & Alexandria Railroad tracks were laid. It was originally referred to as Burke's Station due to his generous contribution of an easement so that progress could continue with the railroads in 1840.

  Today the VRE (Virginia Railway Express) is conveniently located with 2 stops in the Burke area. One of the stops is off of Roberts Road in a subdivision called Burke Centre. The Grape & Bean store is located in the heart of Old Town at 118 S. Royal Street. Near the intersection of King Street and S. Royal Street.

The Grape & Bean is a locally owned store with wines from all over the world. They have a wonderful selection of red wines, white wines and even dessert wines.

Price points are very reasonable as they seek to cater to all audiences. Recently I purchased a wine from Italy under $15.00 that was a wonderful blend of sophistication and body. The company brand is ASSO and they make wonderful red wines. This along with some dessert wines were recommended to me by one of the Store Owners: David Gwathmey.
