Belmont Country Club, built in the 1790s, boasts magnificient vews, excellent golf courses, and is losted in the National Register of Historic Places. The River Creek Club is also in Loudoun, and has an 18-hole Ault-Clark golf course on the Potomac River bluffs. The Ida Lee recreation center is a 71,000 square foot recreation, fitness, and aquatic center.
Middleburg is located in Loudoun, which is known as the capital of horse country in Virginia. There are many polo and horseback riding events, and it is a tight-knit community with under 700 residents. Notable residents of Middleburg include Jack Kent Cooke, Alice du Pont Mills, Elizabeth Taylor, and Jackie Kennedy.

Another notable town of Loudoun is Leesburg, which is home to 21 entries on the National Register of Historic Places, including the Dodona Manor (home of George C. Marshall), White's Ferry (the only ferry across the Potomac River), Carlheim, Oatlands Plantation, and Morven Park. Leesburg celebrated its 250th birthday in 2008. There are many beautiful Victorian "mansions" in Leesburg's historic district.

Loudoun County is a stone's throw from Charles Town, West Virginia. Charles Town is also a historic destination, but is better known for Hollywood Casino, which has 5,000 slots, live entertainment, horse races, poker, and more.
