Annandale is a largely populated, diverse community of about 56,000 in eastern Fairfax County. The area is located near the Capital Beltway (I-495) and the Littel River Turnpike (Route 236). Also located within the community is the Fairfax Cross County Trail, which provides an opportunity of 20 miles for hiking, biking, running, and even cross-country skiing in the winter months.
The Fairfax County Public School System serves the neighborhood with seven elementary schools (Annandale Terrace, Braddock, Woodburn, Camelot, Columbia, Canterbury Woods, Wakefield Forest), two middle schools (Edgar Allen Poe, Holmes) and four high schools (Annandale, Falls Church, Woodson, J.E.B. Stuart). Annandale is also home to the main campus of Northern Virginia Community College and located close to George Mason University.
Popular restaurants in the area include Lighthouse Tofu, Yechon, Silverado, To Sok Jip, Bon Chon Chicken, Honey Pig, Oehadgib, and bakery Le Matin de Paris.
Area amenities include the Audrey Moore RECenter, which includes a 76,000 square foot indoor pool, a number of parks scattered throughout the area, a skate park and the George Mason Regional Library. A number of golf courses also encompass the area, including Greendale Golf Course and top-notch Reston National Golf Course.
